Recent research found that only 50% of students will spend 30 minutes or more searching for a resource before giving up (Librarian Futures Part II, 2022). Today’s patrons are used to receiving content at the point of need, without having to search for it. The disconnect between library-subscribed content and patron awareness may be due to libraries that have not yet embedded services around patron workflows. How can librarians manage course reserves effectively to increase visibility of resources available to students, and improve student outcomes?

This webinar will explore how the libraries at University of North Texas Health Science Center and Rollins College are handling the resource-intensive task of managing course reserves, alongside tactics to increase student adoption. The panel will share their experiences of faculty and librarians collaborating to improve course reserves engagement. We will address the challenges faced, and how some libraries are leveraging new “one-stop-shop” style course reserve management technology to mitigate issues, improve inter-departmental collaboration, and reduce library administration.
